A sketchbook can tell a visual story. Presenting a series of themed drawings in a sketchbook is one way for an artist to rigorously explore an idea. We will explore various collaged and painted materials and generate a series of themed works to create a sketchbook. We will use these drawings to make the body of a simple A5 sketchbook, which will be folded, stitched and glued. The drying process will take overnight and we will work further into the bound sketchbooks during Day two of the workshop.
All basic materials provided for this course (heavier weight papers available at cost price). Please bring your own painting brushes if you have them. Please bring an apron or wear clothes suitable for an art studio. You may wish to bring a plastic bag in which to take wet work home.
