04 Dec 18
Tutor - Josie Brown
Tuesday 4 December, 10.30am - 4.30pm
An introduction to the art of gilding, using ancient and modern processes, covering how to lay 23¾ct gold leaf by doing trials with a range of mediums. Discover which work best for particular purposes through experimenting with techniques and effects. Learn to lay other metal leaf such as aluminium, copper and variegated imitation gold and how to tool these with design-work. Complete a small final project – whether an illuminated letter, or a folded box topped with a gilded initial, or a modest painting.
All basic materials provided for this course (heavier weight papers available at cost price), although we recommend bringing your own 'pointed round' watercolour brushes if you have them. Please bring an apron or wear clothes suitable for an art studio. Please bring any designs or images you might wish to use – the tutor will have lettering exemplars and reference books.
Cancellation Policy: If you cancel your booking within 2 weeks of the start of the course or workshop you will not be eligible to receive a refund, nor will you be eligible to transfer to another course/workshop unless we can find someone to take your place on your original booking. If we cancel a course or workshop for whatever reason then you will be offered a different date, course or a full refund.
