Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 January 2019, 10am - 4pm
Develop techniques and a conceptual framework toward making improvised paintings, using acrylic paint and working from A4 to A1 size. Starting with the blank rectangle, you will be encouraged to generate a ‘conversation’ with the painting surface, by activating it with a diverse range of marks and gestures. From this improvised dialogue, you will ultimately identify a ‘surprising’ outcome. Colour will be used strategically, and considering what sensations/ideas/narratives it communicates in conjunction with gesture and pictorial space.
All basic materials provided for this class (heavier weight papers available at cost price). Please bring an apron or wear clothes suitable for an art studio. We recommend bringing your own brushes if you have them. As wet media will be used, you may wish to bring a plastic bag or portfolio for taking wet work home.
Cancellation Policy: If you cancel your booking within 2 weeks of the start of the course or workshop you will not be eligible to receive a refund, nor will you be eligible to transfer to another course/workshop unless we can find someone to take your place on your original booking.
