Writing from Abstraction: Creative Writing Course
15 Jan - 5 Feb 19
Tuesdays: 15th, 22nd and 29th Jan, 5th Feb 2019. 10.30am - 12.30pm
Led by writer and artist Nick Moore, Writing from Abstraction explores the relationship between creative writing and the visual image. Focusing on the exhibition, Albert Irvin and American Abstract Expressionism, this set of workshops will be a laboratory of the imagination, a place to experiment and play while exploring abstraction.
The sessions will be informal, allowing flexibility of approach, and include set exercises, time in the gallery, quiet writing in the study room, and time to share and critique work together.
To enable participants to develop and extend their writing in response to the exhibition, each of the four sessions will have a different emphasis, leading to a cumulative experience.
Beginners are welcome as well as those with more writing experience. We recommend you bring your own notebook and pen. However, some writing materials will be available on the day.
Excellent experience that met with expectations/requirements; plentiful opportunities to write creatively and to re-visit the exhibition for inspiration - previous Image Writes participant at RWA
