An exciting 2 night/ 3 day visit looking at Art and Architecture in Sussex
Day One: We will leave Bristol and head to Chichester where visits include: the Pallant House Gallery with its world class collection of Modern British Art, Chichester Cathedral, with examples of Gothic and Norman Architecture, medieval sculptures, and works by Marc Chagall, John Piper and Graham Sutherland, the Novium Museum, which focuses on Chichester’s history, or you can just visit the local attractions.
Day Two: We will take a coach to the Lewes area where we will visit - Charleston: the country home of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grantand the Monk’s House (NT), the country retreat of Virginia and Leonard Woolf.
Day Three: We will return to Bristol via the National Trust’s splendid Petworth House with its wonderful art collection, including major works by Van Dyck, Turner, Reynolds and Gainsborough. There should also be an opportunity to visit the attractive village of Petworth.
