Join RWA Academician Midge Naylor for an informal talk about her practice.
Midge Naylor is a Scottish artist whose primary practice is painting.
Her work examines the role of sensory experience, memory, and the psyche in the making of an artwork. Never keen on the word ‘inspiration’, Midge sees the act of painting itself, and the often unpredictable behaviours of the different materials she uses as the driver. There may be a notion of an outcome at the start and it’s always a derivation of landscape. The need for a formal resolution tempers experiments with layering, scraping and mark-making. This working process is constantly challenging and sometimes rewarding.
