Black pigments have been around since humans discovered they could take a burnt stick and make a mark, drawing with charcoal. Black is rich and vibrant with potent life, it plays with colour, it focuses our attention.
In this workshop you will engage in a variety of mark making techniques and materials to journey with black. Through structured exercises, alongside time for individual working, you will explore its qualities of richness and versatility, depth and subtlety.
All basic materials provided for this workshop (heavier weight papers available at cost price), although we recommend bringing your own brushes if you have them. Please bring an apron or wear clothes suitable for an art studio. You may wish to bring in something to take wet work home.
Participants must be 16 or over.
