Weaving as Drawing

Tutor - Larissa Norwicki

Thursday 19 July, 10.30am - 4.30pm

This workshop will explore the associative relationship between weaving and drawing through the theories of textile designer and artist Anni Albers. It will begin with experimentation and play using broken books as raw material. Participants will be guided through a systematic process of tactile making. Line, texture and composition will materialize through the physical act of weaving while yielding unpredictable elements of surprise. Ultimately the act of drawing will not be located on the surface of the page, it will occur within the supportive structure of the page itself.

All basic materials provided for this workshop (heavier weight papers available at cost price).
